BNL Round 12 (Regular Season): KZ Marlins beat NC Zebras in the most crucial game of the week

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kwazulu. Top-ranked Marlins faced 4th ranked Zebras. Host Marlins (5-0) smashed guests from Kimberley (1-2) 81-49. KZ Marlins forced 30 NC Zebras turnovers and outrebounded them 53-34 including 18 on the offensive glass. KZ Marlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by NC Zebras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Benjamin Myburgh (185-1997) who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Taite Hendricks (-2006) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Kabelo Kubayi (180-1996) who recorded 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marlins have a solid four-game winning streak. KZ Marlins maintains first position with 5-0 record. NC Zebras at the other side keep the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with WC Mountaineers. KZ Marlins will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. NC Zebras will play on the road against WC Mountaineers (#5) in Cape and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mndeni Mdluli contributed with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Lebogang Bassie (189-1989) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds for NW Eagles. Eagles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zebras maintains fourth position with 1-2 record, which they share with WC Mountaineers. It was NW Eagles' third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. NC Zebras will play against WC Mountaineers (#5) in Cape in the next round. NW Eagles will play at home against WC Mountaineers and hope to get finally their first victory.
